FLASH
- We prefer that all Flash ad creatives be submitted as .fla (editable Flash) files so that we can resize them, add our click-thru tracking facility, and make any other changes as required without having to coordinate those changes with third-party designers.
- If licensing or other criteria prevent the designers from providing the editable Flash files (.fla), the designers must provide a .swf that accepts a click-thru URL passed as a Flash variable (i.e., a GET query parameter) named “clickTAG”.
- If multiple click-through addresses are required, additional, sequentially numbered variables may be used, e.g., “clickTAG”, “clickTAG2”, “clickTAG3”, etc.
- Animations should not loop more than five times, and the total length of all animation loops combined should be no more than 15 seconds (e.g., 5 loops of 3 seconds each, 3 loops of 5 seconds each, one loop of 15 seconds, etc.).
- The wmode value in the HTML code will be set to "opaque".
- All audio should be user-initiated.
- The initial Flash creative must be no more that 40 KB in size, preferably no more than 30 KB; if additional data must be downloaded, the initial creative should include a progress meter or a similar indicator, and the content must be served through a fast CDN (content delivery network, e.g., Akamai, Limelight, etc.).
- If changes are required, News & Record Interactive will not be held responsible for delivery delays that result from the designers’ failure to adhere to these guidelines and/or respond to requests for technically necessary changes in a timely manner.
